Bowman Gray (NC) Stadium is one of the most distinguished short tracks in the country and at only 42 years old Burt Myers has become one of the most successful racers in the speedway’s history.
Since 1996 the “Madhouse” has only had four Modified champions (Tim Brown, Danny Bohn, Junior Miller, and Myers). In 2018 Myers won his eighth Modified track title tying him for second on the all-time champions list with Ralph Brinkley (Tim Brown currently leads with ten championships). Burt also has two NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour championships to his credit (2010 & 2016).
From Walnut Cove, NC, Burt and his brother Jason are part of a third generation of Myers family racers at Bowman Gray Stadium. The Myers name has accumulated over 150 victories between Burt, Jason, their father; Gary, great uncle; Bobby, and grandfather; Billy. Bobby Myers passed away in 1957 from injuries sustained in a crash at Darlington (SC) Raceway and Billy Myers passed away in 1957 from a heart-attack while racing at Bowman Gray Stadium.
The Myers race family race team gained a lot of recognition from being one of four Modified racing teams followed for a season at Bowman Gray Stadium in the reality-drama TV show “Madhouse”. Madhouse aired for one season on the History Channel in 2010.
