WINNERS: Kyle Busch – 2018 Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series star and Las Vegas native Kyle Busch (51B) took down the victory in this past weekend’s Winter Showdown at the Kern County (CA) Raceway 1/2 mile paved oval.

Busch dominated the SPEARS Southwest Tour; Super Late Model event as he took the lead at lap 63 and never gave it up through the remainder of the 300 lap event. A late race caution created a six lap shootout but no competitor was able to contend with him for the $30,000 prize.

18 year old Buddy Shepherd (15) from Bakersfield, CA was fast qualifier for the Winter Showdown and ended up finishing second with NASCAR Xfinity Series racer Daniel Hemric (21H) from Kannapolis, NC finishing closely behind in third.

Wisconsin representative Ty Majeski (91) and Noah Gragson (18G) from Las Vegas, NV rounded out the top 5. Last year’s series champion Derek Thorn (43) seemed to be Busch’s biggest threat during the race but slowly faded to a 9th place finish.
